First meeting years ago while performing at East Coast Music Week, Biggar and Pilgrim formed an instant kinship that has only grown as they have performed at the same festivals and industry conferences over the years. In 2018 they partnered for a collection of intimate shows across Newfoundland where listeners marvelled at the seamless beauty of their blended
vocals and the heartfelt warmth and fun of their combined stage presence. Biggar and Pilgrim also share
a markedly common background, each having cut their musical teeth in church with traditional gospel
music. Both as writers and performers they each pay homage on stage to the inspiration of their
respective gospel music upbringings and its influence on their mainstream careers – from style to
substance to stage presence.
Finally, they now come together again for an unforgettably entertaining,
foot-stomping, heartwarming tour, inspired in part by that shared musical
lineage. ‘Heart to Heart – Country, Blues & Gospel Roots’ is a double bill show that will showcase Biggar and Pilgrim blending their powerful voices, pairing their individual styles and celebrating that deep well of common musical inspiration. This tour offers these acclaimed songwriters performing many of their award‐winning original songs - Pilgrim with her honest, pure classic country sensibilities, and Biggar with his soulful, gutsy roots and blues delivery - while the two powerhouse artists join voices for a collection of classic gospel songs that are sure to inspire and warm hearts. Biggar and Pilgrim’s noted humour and disarming warmth will fill the evening with laughter and smiles, and Pilgrim’s top-notch full band ‘The Mayflowers’ will join them on stage, doubly ensuring to get feet stomping and hearts pounding.
Having toured in NL over the years, Biggar notes his eagerness to perform again for Newfoundland and Labrador audiences after his last NL tour in summer 2022, performing across the island on a songwriters tour with Maureen Ennis:
